![]() ![]() Joan Dark, claiming she committed treason and deserved the death penalty. On the left, Bishop Pierre Cauchon threatens Joan of Arc with torture if she does not adjudicate. Not as claustrophobic as La passion de Jeanne d’Arc, but its a good imitation. At his fever pitch, a shadow drops across his face to show his complete turn to darkness. The scientist continues his tirade, methodically quoting the trial transcript like it was an inquisition. La passion de Jeanne d’Arc, anyone? Stills from Doom: Annihilation (Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, 2019), left, and La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc (Société Générale des Films, 1928), right.
